We're enjoying our visit to Texas. This morning we went out to Daingerfield State Park. Jacob and Claire walked around the lake path with Mimi and Cookie (the short-legged jack russell terrier) while Isaac and I followed at a much slower pace.
Not only does Isaac have short little legs, but he is very engaged in his surroundings. We had to stop at every little puddle of sand so he could trail his fingers through it. And then there were sticks. And bugs. And blackberries! Isaac was very excited about picking the berries himself. After eating one red one, he was careful to only pluck off the black berries.
Since we've been here, he's gotten to eat blackberries, blueberries, mulberries and plums pulled straight off the plants and warm from the sun. The only downside is that mosquitos have gotten to eat him (and me and Claire).

hey, yall! its mike! well i like it!
Lovely pictures. I didn't know you were moving. Where are you moving to? I guess I'll have to keep reading your blog to find out. I loved your description of your life in San Diego. Amazing how one sentence can pretty much sum it up.
We are moving to Provo. We have a vacation layover in Texas, visiting family while we wait for the loan approval and the end-of-June closing date for the little house we're buying. It's a great way to visit, separates the moving out stress and craziness from the moving in stress and craziness, and gives us a month rent-free to help save money for the down payment. The only drawback is that Clint is still working in New York, staying with friends, but far from his family's hugs.
you are a stinker! the only things there that are not real food are the mac and cheese and capri suns. Since they were practically free, we're using them as food storage. At least I don't live in Texas!!
The worst part is, that staying with family in Texas, borrowing someone else's fridges space and kitchen, I too have purchased mac and cheese and capri suns. Oh, the shame. But it was on clearance at Target, so I got just as good a deal, but without the hassel of cutting coupons!
I love the pictures--that part of Texas is absolutely beautiful! I also smiled when I read Jacob's shirt--NY loves you back. ;)
